Does Ameriie Refer To Herself In New Song "Mustang"? Listen Up!

Ameriie just premiered a new song and that is called "Mustang" (yeah, just like the expensive sports car). The R&B number – about a fierce girl who can’t be tamed by no man - was premiered through Ameriie’s SoundCloud page last night (Dec. 29) and it’s available for free stream (no limitation whatsoever), but it can’t be downloaded (boo!).

The girl who added a second “i" to her name is currently working on not one but TWO full-length albums, titled "BILI" and "Cymatika, Vol. 1”, and on top of that she’s also contemplating the idea of releasing a free EP for fans. Ameriie released in June 2014 an original song called “What I Want” and said it was part of the “BILI” album, but this new song "Mustang" doesn't haven a confirmed "home" yet. "BILI"? "Cymatika, Vol. 1”? Free EP? Ameriie hasn't said where this will ultimately land yet.

"Mustang" song review

She’s a wild one / So many have tried, but none can tame her”, sings Ameriie in the hook of “Mustang”. Is she talking about herself? Could be! I really picture Ameriie to be everything that’s said in this song.

"Mustang" is a super laid-back R&B/go-go track that is very pleasant to hear but that just doesn't scream "wow, she's back to slay". It sounds very 2003, and although I like it, and I do believe go-go music is the genre to go for Ameriie, I do think that she should try a way to make her go-go tracks sound a bit more "current". Maybe mix it up with another genre or something!

Ameriie’s new albums haven’t been released yet so she still has time to make a few modifications on them. I don’t really want to see them flop badly on the charts, and they will if they’re ONLY filled with vintage-sounding tracks a la "Mustang".

By the way, Ameriie isn’t technically a ‘complete’ independent artist. She signed a few years ago a deal with The Island Def Jam Music Group that allowed her to release her music under her own label, Feeniix Rising Entertainment. And you can verify this by going to the Def Jam website, and in "Artists", you will see Ameriie.
