Time Warner Cable in partnership with LifeBeat hosted a pre-VMAs concert on Friday night (Aug. 28th) at Avalon club in Hollywood where pop stars Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas served as the two main attractions. The former Jonas Brothers member was the first to go on stage and immediately after Demi followed.

FYI: Since videos of Nick's set have yet to surface online, and I honestly care more about Demi, we're going to focus on the fierce 23-year-old brunette in this blog post.

Demi's concert lasted 45 minutes and she performed 11 songs. She kicked off with "Really Don't Care", and wrapped it up, after an encore, with "Neon Lights". On the setlist program that was accidentally made public to some attending fans, it was reported that Nick Jonas would be brought on stage by Demi during her set to perform the two of them together their unreleased, and mystery collaboration "Afterglow". But for some unknown reason, this scheduled live duet was cancelled and Demi replaced it with a cover performance of Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way". (I'm honestly happy Demi decided to switch things last minute. I prefer having watched Demi SLAYING this Aretha classic than her having done a corny duet with Nick! #trueteaspilled).

Besides watching Demi kill "Ain't No Way", check out below too videos of her amazing live renditions of other popular songs from her back catalog, including, of course, a performance of her brand new single "Cool for the Summer" (off her upcoming fifth album "Confident") at Avalon last night. She was so fierce! Can't wait to see her kill "CFTS" at the VMAs tomorrow too!

PS: Real Demi fans will remember that "Ain't No Way" was the song she opted to perform during her "Camp Rock" audition many years ago, that's why this Aretha classic is so special to her.
