Carly Rae Jepsen - "I Really Like You" [Music Video Premiere!]
What a piece of you know what. Really, Carly Rae Jepsen? I can’t believe you’re so unintelligent to ruin the commencement of your new amazing single with a disgraceful music video like the one you premiered last night, March 6, on VEVO. This is clearly not going to promote "I Really Like You" at all, but instead do damage to it.
The Canadian pop singer premiered first on Bravo TV the music video for her Max Martin-produced catchy pop single "I Really Like You" (first offering from her upcoming studio album due in stores allegedly this summer) and a couple of hours later it was available across the VEVO platform. Directed by Peter Glanz, the "I Really Like You" clip was filmed in New York City, and it regretfully shows 90% of Tom Hanks (the guest star) and 10% of Carly Rae Jepse. WTF!?
I thought the idea of having Oscar-winning Tom Hanks in the MV was cute, but I thought he was going to do just a short cameo not STAR in it and totally steal Carly's thunder. What's the plot about? Tom and Carly are to have a date (that’s at least what it looks like at the beginning), and the director instead of showing clips of both going back and forth as they were on their way, he only shows Tom doing so. (Why not also Carly? It’s her video!!). So it’s Tom waking up, Tom washing her teeth, Tom taking a cab, and Tom endlessly walking the NYC streets until he reaches the "meeting point". It's only then what their true intentions are revealed. They’re going to do a flash mob in the SoHo area in support of "I Really Like You". So after a "pregnant” joke, Tom and Carly are joined by tens of back dancers and start doing their dancing thing and at one point pop star Justin Bieber links up with the group. A few seconds later, it’s the end.
What a bore! Carly’s management obviously over-thought it. They should have just asked her to do a cute summery video with a really hot guy. Period.
