Britney Spears Officially Announces Las Vegas Residency, And 8th Album Release Date On 'GMA'

britney spears interview on las vegas residency

Was this really a $100,000 event?. Only Godney could pull this off! The pop star appeared on "Good Morning America" today (September 17) to officially announce her 2-year long Las Vegas residency, a spectacle christened as "Piece of Me", to be held at Planet Hollywood. It's going to be 50 shows a year, and tickets went on sale this morning! Go to Ticketmaster.com, before everything sells out. The cheapest ticket costs $66.

During her "GMA" segment, Britney fans and ABC viewers could watch a pre-recorded interview where she discussed the Miley Cyrus VMA performance, breaking up from Jason Trawick, and that being the inspiration of new songs, and during a 'lightning round' Britney said she did not remember the moves of the iconic "Oops...I Did It Again" choreography, lol. For real?. I hope she was just feeling too timid at the moment. Otherwise, it'd be sad!

Moving on to the 'live' portion of her "GMA" segment, Britney landed on helipcopter in the middle of the desert in Las Vegas where thousands of fans greeted her. It was 4AM in the morning (PST), so a not-so-alive/talkative Britney, wearing sunglasses all the time, kind of ignoring the fans, did another brief interview with the same "GMA" host where this time she talked more of her Las Vegas residency, also announcing the release date of her eighth studio album. The still-untitled project will hit stores December 3rd.

The day before, TMZ.com reported that this 'event' in the Las Vegas desert would cost $100,000 and that Britney would perform "Work Bitch" for the first time. I'm guessing they lied on both things. That did not look like a $100k thing (and if it did cost that, what a MESS!), and there was no performance. At least we got the album's release date!
