Breaking: Whitney Houston Dies at 48

Whitney Houston, the reigning pop-soul diva in the 80's and 90's, passed away this Saturday (February 11th) at age 48 - The singer was found dead at a Beverly Hills hotel.

The diva, who fought long time with a drugs addiction, had publicly talked about the issue. "The biggest devil is me. I’m either my best friend or my worst enemy", Whitney said in an interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer in 2002. Houston was staying on Saturday at the Beverly Hilton getting ready for the pre-Grammy party organized by Clive Davis, the music mogul. He was who discovered Whitney as an artist while she sang with her mother at a New Jersey club.

The Beverly Hills police confirmed that the 911 emergency team received a call from hotel staff, and when entering Whitney's room they found the lifeless body of the singer in the bathtub. The time of death was of around 3:30 pm PST. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate Houston during 20 minutes, but it all sadly failed. The police have stated the body did not showed any signs of physical violence, although the cause of death is still under investigation.

On Thursday (February 9th), paparazzi and hotel staff had already noticed something strange on the singer, saying she got to the hotel with an erratic behavior, dripping sweat and disheveled clothes. Houston had also acted 'aggressively' during the rehearsals for the Clive Davis party. Nevertheless, we've learned Whitney's mother had called her daughter minutes before her death without noticing anything weird.

Whitney's discoverer, Clive Davis opted to go along with the scheduled celebration in the same hotel Houston's body was still lying four hours after paramedics found her. "She would have wanted music to go on; she graced stage with regal presence", said Clive.

The 54th Grammy Awards plans will change drastically as the ceremony will now be a tribute to Whitney. Jennifer Hudson and Chaka Khan have announced they will take the stage on Sunday. Watch below Whitney's LAST performance at the "Kelly Price & Friends Unplugged: For the Love of R&B" at Tru Hollywood on Thursday. There she sang the gospel hymn "Jesus Loves Me". R.I.P
