Azealia Banks Premieres Female Empowering Anthem “Movin’ On Up”: Listen

Azealia Banks did that! The Harlem raptress premiered a new song over the weekend called “Movin’ On Up”. The almost-4-minutes-long song is an upbeat number full of disco beats. Lyrically, Miss Banks shares with us her views on modern feminism. “All I want is to live in this world / Express the love that may live in me / Learn myself more / And be free to explore my sexuality / All the girls if you're feelin' me / Find your bliss, spread your wings, live your life”, sings Azealia in one section of the song. The second verse, the one she hardcore-raps, is my favorite. She went hard!

But although “Movin’ On Up” is a freaking bomb I do was expecting Azealia Banks to show us some evolution in her sound with this new song. This literally sounds like material she could have released last year or the previous one. You know what I mean? I love her, I love her songs, I love this song, but it’s 2018 and I want to hear something completely fresh and unique. That should be Azealia’s task for 2018; surprise us.
