Avril Lavigne Finds Jesus In New Song "Head Above Water", Listen Now And Be Ready To Be Taken To The Altar!

avril lavigne head above water

Avril Lavigne released her comeback single Head Above Water today (Sept. 19). This is the first single from the Canadian singer’s upcoming sixth studio album, whose title and precise release date are yet a mystery but we do know it’s coming out at some point in 2018. Avril’s last album, the eponymous one, was released all the way back in 2013. 5 years without a new Avril Lavigne album? Life has been unfair and hurtful.

Head Above Water is signature pop-rock Avril Lavigne mid-tempo ballad and a little bit Christian rock too. Just take a look at the chorus: “God, keep my head above water / Don't let me drown / It gets harder, I'll meet you there at the altar / As I fall down to my knees”. Avril has found Jesus and I’m happy with her. Some believe in Buddha, some in Allah, and Avril believes in Jesus Christ.

With a title like Head Above Water I instantly knew this wasn’t going to be a heavily pop-sounding track, not one the radios would immediately love, but that it was going to be something mid-tempo, ballad-ish, and definitely inspiring and moving. My prediction was very accurate. But I’m glad to say despite it all (I was “TEAM WE WANT A POP BANGER”) Head Above Water is a very nice song with a lot of replay value. Avril gave us a ballad but she knew she had to decorate it with some cool elements and paraphernalia to cater at least a little bit to her hardcore pop fans too and that she did. Aside that, her vocals are sounding more stunning than ever. It’s been so many years since she started her career and her voice isn’t get tired, it’s getting better.
