Austin Mahone’s New Songs “Send It” & “Way Up” Are Here: Will These Revive His Career?

I don’t quite understand this. If he’s still appearing on the artists roster page of Republic Records, why has Austin Mahone been releasing his latest music independently via A.M Music LLC?

I was expecting these two new songs from the Texas-born artist titled “Send It” and “Way Up” that he released today (Aug. 19) online to be part of a forthcoming new EP or a new studio album that he was going to put out via Republic Records later this year, however it seems that these are just two more one-off singles Austin unleashes via his independent label with the objective to keep being relevant to the pop demographic.

  • The first song titled “Send It” is a collaboration with rapper Rich Homie Quan and in it Austin sings about how much he loves to ask his girlfriend to send him sexy pictures of her in order to satisfy some kind of creepy need he seems to have.
  • The second new song is called “Way Up” and this one is about a girl who is so full of herself, who is acting stupidly just to resemble a famous person and Austin doesn’t like this attitude at all. So he says in the song that it’s better to be apart from this girl who’s too “way up”.

As you see, the two new Austin Mahone singles have different themes but they do have something in common, and that’s their sound; for both have a pop meets R&B productions. All in all, these are okay but they’re nothing incredible, which was the whole point for all the hype Austin’s been doing on social media about these songs. If they were on a studio album, there’s no doubt “Send It” and “Way Up” would be fillers.

If Austin was looking to revive his career with these songs, then he’s going to fail miserably. But if he just wanted to treat fans with something new as gratitude for still being there for him, then these are fine.
