Austin Mahone Realizes He’s Been Used By In “Way Up” ‘Lyric Video’

Interesting. This ‘lyric video’ is making me see this song from a different perspective now.

At first I thought Austin Mahone’s “Way Up” was about a conceited girl who thought nobody was good enough for her. But Austin is telling a different story from the one I originally assumed with this ‘lyric video’ he premiered for “Way Up” today, September 20th, on VEVO. Here the plot is about a beautiful woman who is Austin’s girlfriend. Everything seems to be paradise between the two of them. However, one random morning while the two are chilling on the bed a text message is sent to the girl’s phone. Unfortunately for her, Austin is the one who checks the phone first and sees how she’s been online flirting with other men - most likely rich too. So with this I realize “Way Up” was actually inspired by a woman whose main purpose in life is to be a gold digger, and jump from wealthy man to wealthy man without caring if she breaks their hearts.

Aw, poor Austin.

Has this happened to him before? I’m intrigued.

In any case, he really is loving these ‘lyric video meets music video’ videos these days, huh? First he did it with “Send It” and now with “Way Up”. Wouldn’t it have been better to just leave them as regular music videos and remove the lyrics captions? I’m really confused by this ’visual strategy’ from Austin Mahone. I need a serious explanation. What he has shot are music videos! Doesn’t he realize?

Thoughts?
