Yikes: Shakira’s First “Me Enamore” TV Performance Takes Place In… France.
I’m finding it very hard to understand Shakira’s promotion strategy for “El Dorado”. Thus far, she’s only hosted “private parties” for select people of the media and celebrity friends in Miami and Barcelona. That’s it.
Shakira was in New York City and she didn’t do “Jimmy Fallon”, she was in Miami and she didn’t do “Despierta America”. So many missed opportunities. Why couldn’t she had gone to these shows I just mentioned to get interviewed and perform songs of “El Dorado”? Why?
Now, two weeks after the arrival of “El Dorado” in stores and just when the album is about to leave the Top 100 on the albums chart of iTunes USA, Shakira finally decides to promote her new album on television. Was it a performance on “Ellen”? “GMA”? “Today”? On the biggest TV show in Mexico? On the biggest TV show in Colombia? NO. She performed “Me Enamoré” on “The Voice France”…
France? Really?
I know France is near Barcelona where Shakira lives, and it must’ve been a quick return flight for her to get back with her family that same night, but why is she refusing to promote in the US and Latin America? France is clearly not going to give Shakira much money with “El Dorado” sales. The money for this album is on the other side of the Atlantic.
At “The Voice France” last night (June 10), Shakira, sporting a very pedestrian look, lifeless hair, and unprofessional make-up, performed “Me Enamoré” alone and later “Comme Moi” with the help of French rapper Black M (owner of the song), and one of the contestants of the show.
The vocals: Shakira did fine in the “Comme Moi” performance but she did not do fine in the “Me Enamoré” performance. Here she had several pitchy moments. Could’ve been the fault of the entire running around the stage, though. But, don’t you rehearse to avoid this exactly?
