World Premiere: Sam Smith - "Writing's On The Wall" [Full Audio]
With only a few hours of previous notice, British singer Sam Smith premiered this Friday morning (Sept. 25) the much-anticipated theme song for the upcoming James Bond movie “Spectre”, “Writing’s On The Wall”. The super dramatic orchestral tune was co-written by Sam and Jimmy Napes, with Jimmy and Disclosure taking care of the production. “Writing’s On The Wall” received its very first play in the world on BBC Radio 1’s “Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw” before hitting Spotify and iTunes on loads of country. As for the US, the first local play was on Z100’s “Elvis Duran Show” this EST morning; which was accompanied by an exclusive interview.
“Writing’s On The Wall” has it all to be nominated for “Best Original Song” at next year’s Oscars, huh? Yet I doubt the organization will give an Oscar to another James Bonds movie theme song so soon (next year’s music award has to go to Lady Gaga’s “Till It Happens To You”. Period!).

“I have been dreaming of this moment for a long long time”, wrote Sam on Twitter minutes after the premiere. He should feel proud of this song. It’s grandiose and his vocals are just to die for. He really went in hard. Yet, I think it’ evident to say “Writing’s On The Wall” is not as, how do I say it…radio-friendly maybe? Catchily composed? (you get the point)…as Adele’s “Skyfall”. With Adele’s song I sang along, but with Sam’s I just to listen carefully.
Hit or Miss?
