It's here! I can't believe the thought-to-be-lost-forever "Nothing Is Promised" is finally here. I think I have tears in my eyes!
Back in 2014, while the recording sessions of "R8" were going on, Barbados singer Rihanna teased a song called "Nothing Is Promised" on her Instagram. The urban song was immediately thought to be one for the "R8" album (later known as "ANTI") but months passed, a year passed, two years passed, and when early this year of 2016 Rihanna's eight album was released and there was no trace of "Nothing Is Promised" on it, disappointment spread among the "Navy". However, life returned to our depressed souls when last night (June 2nd) super producer Mike Will Made-It, who we knew produced "Nothing Is Promised", released the full version of the Rihanna-assisted track exclusively on Apple Music!!! It is now confirmed that "Nothing Is Promised" will appear on the producer's forthcoming 2016 mixtape "Ransom 2".
Rihanna flaunts in "Nothing Is Promised" about her good life; "We gon' go shoppin' in Paris / Got a turbo Porsche and I don't even move it / Ten million in cash / Put up in a stash, it's under my mattress” - but also stating that was she has right now wasn't randomly set in her destiny ("Ain't none of this shit promised / Ain't none of this sh*t certain”), for she had to work really hard to obtain the style of life she's enjoying right now. So you see, this song ain't just a dumb urban jam with no message. It's actually something a bit more profound, ha.
