[Video] Drake Hosts & Performs On 'Saturday Night Live'

Drake On 'Saturday Night Live'

NBC's 'Saturday Night Live' kicked off their 2014 campaign earlier tonight (January 18th) and they did so in grand fashion with Hip-Hop superstar Drake handling both hosting duties and the musical performance. The Grammy-winning rapper closed out the first round of skits with a medley performance of his double-platinum single 'Started From The Bottom' and the recently released Hit-Boy-produced 'Trophies'. Drake took the stage once again later in the show to perform the hook to 'Hold On We're Going Home' and then 'From Time' with assistance from rising singer-songwriter Jhene Aiko.

Drake is no stranger to being on television. Before launching his Hip-Hop career, he played a lead role on Canadian TV Show 'Degrassi' and his experience most definitely came into play on 'Saturday Night Live'. He started off the show with a reenactment of his Bar Mitzvah and then went on to do other skits such as portraying a defensive Alex Rodriguez on Pier Morgan's talk show, reciting poetry in detention, spoofing New Years Resolutions, playing the role of Lil Wayne (pictured below), advocating for Marijuana legalization as Katt Williams, and a few others.

While ratings for the 39th season of 'Saturday Night Live hit a low this past November, it's safe to say the long-running show is off to a good start in 2014 with the help of Drake. You can check out the Toronto rapper's acting ability in some of the skits and watch his musical performances on the show below. Enjoy.
