Troye Sivan Releases Studio Version Of 'New' Track "Youth": Listen! [Review]

20-year-old singer Troye Sivan, who holds both the South African and Australian passports, premiered today, November 13th, online a new ‘countdown single’ from his upcoming, and much-anticipated full-length debut album titled “Blue Neighborhood”. The new track is “Youth” and it can be purchased as of this morning on iTunes or streamed on Spotify.

Co-written by Troye, Alex Hope, Bram Inscore, Leland and Allie X, “Youth” is a 3-minute-long feel-good love song. In it, Troye Sivan describes himself as a young boy who has fallen in love deeply (for another boy that is, because as you know Troye is gay). The saying “a fool in love” would apply here. Over an electronic/synth-pop production, the South African-born singer-songwriter lets us know of how obsessed he is with this boy person that he is willing to use the most cheesy lines like “My youth, my youth is yours” with him. What he really wants to say here is that is willing to spend the rest of his life with that special person he’s found, but trying to act like the cool young kid he is, he instead says that he will spend his entire “youth” with that person. Or is there a secret message here? Maybe Troye is saying only "youth" because perhaps when he's a “grown up” he’ll think of that BF differently, ha. Just kidding. In any case, I’m so impressed at how Troye can captivate us this much with such ‘minimal’ voice. Loooove!

Blue Neighbourhood” is out on December 4th via Capitol Records/EMI.
