The Vamps Sing About Falling In Love With A Lesbian In New Song “I Found A Girl” : Listen

the vamps i found a girl

British pop-rock band The Vamps left many of their female fans (the 99% of their fanbase that is) shocked today, November 23rd, when they digitally released a controversial new song from their forthcoming sophomore studio album “Wake Up” that gets released in stores worldwide this Friday (Nov. 27). The song in question is titled “I Found A Girl” and it’s about a boy who falls in love with a girl that turns out be a lesbian and that isn’t one tiny bit sexually interested in the male gender. In “I Found A Girl”, the star of the story is shocked by the news, and can’t believe how cruel life can be.

She got that smile and that body is to die for / One of a kind / And that’s why it makes me cry”, sings Bradley Simpson, frontman of The Vamps, in the pre-chorus of “I Found A Girl”. That’s life, young man. You’ve fallen in love with a lesbian, and there’s nothing you can do.

The ‘countdown single’ from the album “Wake Up” was described as a “reggae pop-rock” track a few weeks ago by the band (although I’m not sure I’m hearing any reggae in it) and it is a song where Bradley fast-sings in the verses, and reduces the speed but increases the vocal intensity in the chorus. The latter being the part of the song where he, or the star of this “fictional” story, hits a wall and finds out that the girl he loves, loves another girl.

Check out below a couple of comments from some “shocked” The Vamps fans:

Indeed, what an expected ‘theme’ for a song from The Vamps. Not that I’m hating the song for touching the subject of homosexuality so openly, it’s the opposite! I just never imagined The Vamps singing about it. In any case, I wonder if “I Found A Girl” is a biographical story from someone in the band? And by the way, does anyone imagine this song playing on the radio in the UK? That’d be a game-changer for sure.

Hit or Miss?
