Tegan and Sara - "Boyfriend" [Music Video Premiere!]
It's finally here!
20 days after premiering the audio of their new single "Boyfriend" online, Canadian sisters duo Tegan and Sara unveiled the music video for the synth-laden track on YouTube this Wednesday morning (April 27). Where's "Boyfriend" from? From their upcoming EIGHTH studio album "Love You to Death", which will be released in stores on June 3rd via Warner Bros. Records.
I am living for this new Tegan and Sara single since my very first listen of it earlier this month, but 'WTF' at this music video? I know for a fact these girls are both creative and original, so what in Beyoncé's (GOD) name is this?
Directed by Clea Duvall, the dull visual for the show-stopper "Boyfriend" (a song where Tegan and Sara sing about how angry they are at their girlfriend for hiding them in the dark for not having the courage to come out as a gay woman) sees the Canadian sisters just standing there and serving awkward faces in front of a green screen, which will shift into diverse colors and theme backgrounds. To add some flavor to the video, the best idea they had was to have a fictional director (Rachel Antonoff) go on set to give them directions and to throw a tantrum on them.
Meh. I was actually expecting a cooler music video with a story and hopefully a twist in the end. This below is just forgettable.
