So Strong! JoJo Performs National Anthem at Major TV Event The Day After Her Father Dies: Video

jojo national anthem 2015

My thoughts and prayers go right now to JoJo and her family.

On Saturday afternoon (Nov. 14) the 24-year-old singer announced via her official Instagram account of the passing of her father, Joel Levesque, at the age of 60, and only a day later, on Sunday morning, JoJo had to fulfill an agreement and perform the US national anthem live at the AdvoCare 500 Semi-Final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race at Phoenix International Raceway.

Wearing a mourning black outfit, JoJo managed to keep her emotions, for the tragedy that had happened in her life only hours ago, controlled and managed with success to offer an incredible performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the televised event. At some moments I thought JoJo was going to break in tears but she’s such a professional and so strong that she managed to contain her emotions and do the job right. “Today I will be singing the national anthem to honor my dad”, wrote JoJo on Instagram minutes before her performance at the Phoenix International Raceway.

Some comments on Twitter say JoJo did shed a few tears once the performance was over. However, we cannot verify this in the YouTube video below as the video cuts right when her performance finishes.

Although she was forced to cancel a show on Saturday, due to most likely a funeral ceremony or administrative formalities with the family, JoJo is not expected to cancel official dates of her on-going headlining US tour.

Yesterday’s performance not only demonstrates what an amazing human being JoJo is but also further proves she’s an incredible singer. Despite the particulars, she impressed with her live vocals, and probably gave one of her best renditions of the US national anthem in her career thus far.
