Single Review: Jennifer Lopez - "Ni Tu Ni Yo" / *Full Audio*

jennifer lopez ni tu ni yo

She got it wrong this time.

Jennifer Lopez released her new single "Ni Tu Ni Yo" today, which will appear on her forthcoming ninth studio album, a Spanish one, but the song ain't that no good unfortunately. Not even the presence of Cuban duo Gente de Zona save the song. "Ni Tu Ni Yo" is wrong in every aspect.

Jennifer's vocals sound shaky (and this is the official studio version!), the lyrics are a mess (whoever wrote this doesn't have Spanish as his/her mother tongue - Jennifer, was that you?), this needed to be more reggaeton but it's more salsa, and the melody has some awkward moments in the verses (again, the fault of the lyrics and the placing of lyrics). The "Ni tu ni yooo, ni tu ni yooo" repetitive moments is the only semi good part of the song. The only catchy moment and the only thing I remember of the song after my (important) first listen. Jennifer's new single has no real replay value, I don't think she'll be able to make this a super smash on the Billboard Latin charts (J.Lo's main target) and if it does it will be only because of the hot music video I'm sure she's filmed for "Ni Tu Ni Yo", but that's yet to be literally seen. I will only give this song a second listen when the music video is out. I was expecting a club banger, I was expecting reggaeton, I was expecting something that would sound 2017, and not this. I pray this song is not indicative of the sound of the rest of tracks from Jennifer's upcoming album.
