Shawn Mendes has new music out.
Is he releasing a new album so soon? No. This brand new track titled “Believe” is not from the “Handwritten” follow-up but from the soundtrack of the upcoming Disney TV movie “Descendants” that will premiere on July 31 on the kids’ channel.
The guitar-driven mid-tempo, very Shawn Mendes-style, is an inspiring song where the 16-year-old rising pop star sings about believing in yourself, that everything is possible, and that you shouldn’t be afraid to be who you are, among other positive messages.
It’s cute, it’s nice on the ear, and certainly will fit the new Disney movie’s theme like a glove. Plus, the kid sings really well, and I’m sure he recorded “Believe” in just one take in the studio.
I really foresee a great career ahead for Shawn Mendes. I can tell he’s won his demographic over. He ‘s got a great voice and great personality. I just hope he debuts a new sound in his second album. I don’t want him to sell-out, not at all, but his music doesn’t need to be acoustic-y forever.
