Sam Smith Covers Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" on "Live Lounge": Listen Now!

Sam Smith is in the UK to promote his brand new single “I’m Not The Only One”. The so-called male “Adele” hit up BBC Radio 1’s “Live Lounge” on Wednesday midday (September 3rd) to perform an acoustic set. After some chit-chat with host Fearne Cotton, Sam proceeded to slay us all with a beautiful stripped-back rendition of the infidelity anthem “I’m Not The Only One” - off the “In the Lonely Hour” album. However, the slayage didn't end there. Fearne Cotton then announced Sam would be doing a mystery cover later on the show. What song did he cover? Well, it wasn’t a contemporary song! He paid tribute to living legend Tracy Chapman by doing his own version of “Fast Car”.

How sexy and smooth was that!? Thank God Sam didn’t cover a song that’s currently out there on the radio. The only contemporary song I’d have allowed him to do would have been an Adele song. So I'm glad Sam decided to take it back a few years with Tracy Chapman. His voice was certainly born to sing this kind of real R&B, soul classics.
