British star Rita Ora kicked off her mini-US tour in San Francisco on Tuesday (Aug. 25) and fans attending the Californian show were treated with the live debut of Rita's much-anticipated song "Us" - uh-huh, this is the ballad that Ed Sheeran specially co-wrote for Rita for her second album.

On "Us", Rita recently said in an interview that:

“The record that I have with Ed, he’s not featured on, he just wrote. It’s called ’Us’ and for me, it’s one of the most sweetest, heartwarming, incredible love songs-slash-reality that I’ve ever heard,"... “And it kinda makes me think, ‘Thank God that someone wrote that in a song.'”

I wasn't really expecting Rita to debut "Us" on this tour, as I assumed her and her label would want to "save" this song for later - maybe to release it as an iTunes countdown single or as her next official single... with its respective major "reveal", but nah...Rita simply debuted "Us", without much buzz, before a small group of fans in San Francisco. Yey?

In all truth, the song seems to have a pretty emotional story and message, and Rita's vocal delivery is solid, but I'm afraid from this performance "Us" strikes as somewhat of a 'yawn fest'....sorry! Maybe the studio version will amaze me, though! Or.. Rita's label, Roc Nation, will do its job right, and just in time for Rita's next album release, they will have gotten Ed Sheeran to jump on the song and have had it re-recorded as a duet. Ed Sheeran-written songs need to be at least partially-sung by him to work!

Thoughts?
