Review: La Roux - 'Let Me Down Gently' (Audio)
Five years without new music from La Roux have been too much. Thankfully, that drought came to an end today, May 12th, 2014. For the synth-pop British group have uploaded to their official SoundCloud the audio of their brand new single, 'Let Me Down Gently'.
And that's not the only thing they've announced. Elly Jackson and Co. also posted on Twitter a link to pre-order their upcoming second album whose title, artwork, and release date have also been unveiled. 'Trouble In Paradise' is out in the UK on July 7th!!
As for the lead single 'Let Me Down Gently', it's just flawless. We had our doubts at the beginning, but with just a few plays, we fell in love with the track. We are liking the vintage synth-pop sound of 'Let Me Down Gently' and Elly's warm vocals. To put it simple; the new La Roux single is like fine wine. You have to taste it really well to fully appreciate it.
'Let Me Down Gently' isn't as commercial-driven as 'Bulletproof', but it has the potential and quality to perform well on the UK and hopefully on the international charts too.
