Nicki Minaj has spoken about her much-anticipated fourth studio album in an interview with New York Times’ T Magazine. The album, which is being recorded almost in its entirety in Miami, is rumored to come out at the end of 2017 or in early 2018 via Young Money, Cash Money, and Republic Records.
Read here the full interview and read below some of the most relevant quotes of Nicki speaking of the “The Pinkprint” follow-up project, which in her words will have a “super, super iconic title”.
"Sonically, I know what the album’s about to sound like," Minaj says. "I know what this album is gonna mean to my fans. This album is everything in my life coming full circle and me being truly, genuinely happy. It feels almost like a celebration. The last album, The Pink Print, was almost like my diary, closing the chapter on certain things and not knowing if I was happy or sad about beginning new chapters. I was really writing about feeling unsure. Now, I can tell you guys what happened for the last two years of my life. I know who I am. I am getting Nicki Minaj figured out with this album and I’m loving her. This is definitely the most inspired and free and excited I’ve been since I started releasing albums through a label”.
Fairly standard new album talk, right? Every artist says that her next album is going to be her best and most personal yet, but it’s not until we, the fans and/or music lovers, hear it that discover whether those claims are true or not. What we do know now is that Nicki Minaj is definitely feeling the pressure by Cardi B and her smash hit “Bodak Yellow”, which in only a few months achieved what Nicki has been unable to do in her entire career: to get a #1 solo single on the Billboard Hot 100. There’s no denying she’s working hard on this fourth album so that it produces that #1 solo hit that she desperately wants.
You're amazing at what you do. Thank you for such a well written, well thought out, insightful article. https://t.co/0Re81Z9Tl0— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) 16 de octubre de 2017
