Nick Jonas Is Back In "Chains" / Slays New Single on "The Tonight Show" But Sucks at Pictionary

Nick Jonas has surprised me so much. I thought this self-titled debut album of his would be a commercial disappointment and that fans of his Jonas Brothers days would reject this grown-up/Justin Timberlake-esque sound, but “Nick Jonas” is en route to sell 200k copies, and the lead single “Jealous” can undoubtedly be called a HIT as beyond making it into the Top 10 of the Hot 100, the song inspired by Nick's girlfriend has sold over 1 million copies (downloads) in the U.S alone to date and that's huge.

Good for him! This means Island Records will totally green-light a follow-up album.

Now that the days of “Jealous” are coming to an end, Nick is forced to pick a new single. We all believed “Teacher” would be the official follow-up, and in fact he performed the song on quite a few shows late last year, but it seems Island has re-thought this decision. Looks like "Teacher" has been swiftly and silently scrapped - perhaps they feared the disco throwback beat was a little too much - as now "Chains" is the one being promoted. Uh-huh, the song that served as the lead 'buzz' single from "Nick Jonas" many months ago, and that already has a music video out, has been picked as the next Nick Jonas official single. So weird, huh? I don't think I have ever seen an old buzz single being brought back to present time many months after it was first 'released to serve as an official single. Nick Jonas is certainly full of surprises.

I personally love “Chains”, and the Kanye West vibe it’s got is so appealing to me.

"Chains" will be sent to mainstream radios in early March, but Nick has already begun the heavy TV promotion. Last night (Feb. 20) on NBC's "The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon", Nick flawlessly performed the angry track live. He opted for a casual-smart consisting outfit of blazer, white t-shirt, rolled-up formal pants and cordless shoes.

Although Nick slays in the 'performances' department, he sucks at many things. Pictionary for instance. Jimmy Fallon invited Nick to play with him, Kevin Bacon and Don Cheadle a little Pictionary game and he sucked at drawing and guessing major time. He also showed a little bit of dull personality. Nick seems like a great performer but an artist that would be boring to interview, doesn't he?

Thoughts?
