New Music: Rixton - "Wait On Me" [Premiere]

rixton wait on me single cover

British pop rock band Rixton world premiered their brand new single “Wait On Me” on JoJo Wright’s 102.7 KIIS-FM radio show at 9 p.m (PT) on Tuesday (July 22) and at the same time the track was made available for purchase on US iTunes. “Wait On Me” serves as the official follow-up single to Rixton’s Benny Blanco-produced monster hit “Me and My Broken Heart”, which peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 (a very nice position considering Rixton are newcomers) and most-recently debuted at #1 on the guys’ homeland of the United Kingdom (beating Nicole Scherzinger’s “Your Love”).

“Wait On Me” is said to appear on Rixton’s forthcoming full-length debut album, arriving in stores later in 2014 via School Boy Records / Interscope.

Review of “Wait On Me”

The sound of the song is very “Me and My Broken Heart”. Very Maroon 5-esque, with a pop-rock production, and slight reggae elements in the melody. The melody isn't ballad but for some reason I cannot fully connect with it. It's probably because of the similarity to “Me and My Broken Heart” and “Me and My Broken Heart” being the better produced of the two. Nevertheless, “Wait On Me” is another radio-friendly single by Rixton.

The best part of the song? Undoubtedly, the chorus! That’s a catchy. Rixton’s frontman Jake Roche makes a long statement on “Wait On Me” on why the girl he’s interested in should wait on him as he’s evidently her "Mr. Right". "I listen to your heart, I know how it speaks”, sings Jake in Verse 2.
