New Music: One Direction - "Drag Me Down" [Full Audio & Review]

one direction drag me down

The retaliation is real. Only days after Zayn Malik announcing the world his signing to RCA Records to develop his solo career there, One Direction (the boyband Zalik used to belong to) release a brand new single – obviously with the mission of overshadowing Malik’s news. May I also remind you Zayn also dissed their former 1D buddies in a tweet regarding the RCA signing? Recap here. That must’ve pissed the band a lot and must’ve the reason too they rushed this new single out this week, the week that was supposed all about Zayn and not One Direction.

The new single from the UK-Ireland band is titled “Drag Me Down” and it’s a pop song with somewhat of dancehall/reggae influence. It’s evident this single was recorded with the summer in mind. "Drag Me Down" is pretty laid back and it's a song that hears Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall singing about the 'shield against anything' love gives you, and where the 'lads' also show off a few cool vocal inflections. With every new album, they get more and more comfortable with their vocals. Good.

Although I'm not really LOVING the song, it's just okay (not catchy or radio-friendly enough), and I think they will be releasing an emergency second single ASAP, it's obvious "Drag Me Down" is going to sell good, and chart good because it's freaking One Direction y'all. FYI: Yeah, I also think Harry Styles has sort of 'adapted' his voice somewhat in this song to resemble Zayn's, lol. It's weird but kind of true! Oh, the shade. (Read more here)
