New Music: Of Monsters and Men - "Crystals" [Full Audio / Review]

crystals of monsters and men cover

You know them from the 2011/2012 hit song "Little Talks", they’re from Iceland, they performed on "Saturday Night Live" in 2013 and garnered terrific reviews, and now indie-folk band Of Monsters and Men are gearing up to release their second studio album “Beneath the Skin” on June 9 via UMG's Republic Records.

If I'm being honest "Little Talks" is the only song I know from them, I have yet to give a full listen to their debut LP "My Head is an Animal", but just for the obsession that I had with this song I'm so looking forward to their upcoming album. Well, okay, I'm looking forward to check out their first single ("Little Talks" was their first single back then too so) but if I like it then I might be interested in listening the rest of songs from Of Monsters and Men’s album #2. So without further ado, let’s stream below the first single from the Icelandic band’s “Beneath the Skin” titled “Crystals” – the song was premiered on VEVO today March 16 and it’s also available on iTunes together with the pre-order of the new album.

I like the instrumentation in this, Nanna’s vocals, the verses, and the bridge. Not feeling the chorus, though. Overall, it’s a good song but I’m definitely going to need a few more listens to “love it”. Evidently “Crystals” is not as ‘instant’ as "Little Talks” but if Of Monsters and Men are lucky major companies and TV shows will do love the song and use it for commercials and scene placements - which partially was the decisive factor for the international success of "Little Talks" a few years ago.

Hit or Miss?
