New Music: Lea Michele - "What Is Love?" [Full Audio + Review]

I feel terribly bad for Lea Michele. She was so happy she had finished recording her debut album last year, her boyfriend Cory Monteith had the opportunity to hear it in full before his tragic death, and Lea was looking forward for her album to be a success so she could offer that success as a tribute to Cory's memory...but...unfortunately, the US audience isn't connecting with the music coming from "Louder".

First single "Cannonball", a power ballad written by Sia, sounded amazing, and many predicted to be a potential #1, and that radios would fall in love with it putting it on maxium replay, but that expected success hasn't occured. She promoted it quite a bit with performances on "X Factor" and "Ellen", and even releleased a cool music video, but "Cannonball" is just flopping. Then two "buzz" singles were releases; "Battlefield" and "Louder", and both are sharing the same "flop" fate on iTunes

Today, January 27th, a new "buzz" single from "Louder" has been released. It's "What Is Love?". And yes, it's yet ANOTHER BALLAD. I love Lea's amazing, Broadway-esque, vocals, and certainly she nails ballads, but can't she record an uptempo for a change? I'm hoping there's at least one on "Louder".

As for "What Is Love?", its got moving (slightly cheesy) lyrics, nice vocals by Lea, and a calm piano production. I can approve it as an OK "album track". My favorite part of it has to be the chorus. Lea went all in with those major vocals.

Hit or Miss?
