New Music: Lana Del Rey - "Some Things Last a Long Time" [Full Audio + Review]

lana del rey some things last a long time

Here’s the full thing.

Lana del Rey recently recorded a very personal cover of Daniel Johnston’s “Some Things Last a Long Time”, originally included on the album “1990”, for the soundtrack of the short film "Hi, How Are You Daniel Johnston?”, which Lana is an executive producer of, and today (Nov. 10) the full version of this Lana-ified song has seen the light of day - last week a snippet of Lana’s cover could be heard in the trailer of the short film, remember?

From 'Rolling Stone' magazine:

For the cover, Del Rey gives a restrained performance that diverges from her typically more sultry, semi-campy noir approach. Her version also replaces the original piano backing with guitars and drums, giving the tune an even fuller sound.

"Hi, How Are You Daniel Johnston?” will be available on demand from November 13th. Wondering who is this Johnston person? He is a singer-songwriter, musician, and artist, who is regarded as 'an important figure in outsider, lo-fi and alternative music scenes'.

The vocals, the emotion... Ms. Del killed this!
