New Music: Kendrick Lamar - 'The Blacker The Berry'
Fresh off securing two awards at The Grammys last night, Kendrick Lamar makes his long awaited return with a new record entitled 'The Blacker The Berry'. The track is a follow up to his popular single 'I' and features production provided by Boi-1da as well as Terrace Martin.
'The Blacker The Berry' spans over five minutes in length. Kendrick employs his signature vocal intonations and brings a much more aggressive flow than he did in 'I', which core fans have been asking for. The Compton native addresses racial social issues throughout, rapping "I mean it's evident that I'm irrelevant to society, that's what your telling me / Penitentiary would only hire me."
Although Kendrick was not in attendance at The Grammys last night in Los Angeles, he did take home Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for 'I'. No word if 'The Blacker The Berry' will be featured on his forthcoming and much anticipated solo LP but it would not come as a surprise as it is of quality. Hit play and take a listen below.
