New Music: Katy Perry - "Walking On Air"
Is there a pop heaven? Yes, there is, and Katy Perry's walking on it! The 28-year-old California girl released, as promised, on September 30 her second and last iTunes countdown single ahead of the October 22 release of her fourth studio album "Prism". On the Klas Ahlund-produced song (Ke$ha "Blow", Robyn "Call Your Girlfriend"), Katy Perry told MTV last month; "I really want to bring that authentic 90's deep house song styling back". Not sure how 'authentic' "Walking On Air" is to that genre from back in the day, as most likely there are far better produced songs, but Katy's new song is definitely a nice adaptation for a 2013 release. The song is breezy, it's high-energy and no doubt it will give "Dark Horse" tough competition on iTunes. True "Walking On Air" is too repetitive - could it be the "We Found Love" of 2013? - but it's good pop, though.
