World Premiere: Justin Bieber - "Love Yourself" + "The Feeling" [Audio / Review]
The shade is real in “Love Yourself”, one of the two new songs Justin Bieber authorized Zane Lowe to world premiere this Monday afternoon (Nov. 9) on his Beats 1 radio show. The other one was “The Feeling”, featuring Ms. “New Americana” Halsey. Both tracks will appear on the Canadian boy’s upcoming fourth studio album “Purpose”, which arrives, finally, in stores this Friday, November 13th.
“Love Yourself” is a shady as f*ck (excuse my language, but it really is!) ballad that hears Justin singing about an ex who didn’t take their breaking-up very well. The reason for so much shade? Either A) the girl is still mad at JB for ending things with her, and she’s doing everything she can to make his life a misery, or B) the girl behaved so incredibly bad while they were going out that JB needed to vend off in a song. Is “Love Yourself” about Selena Gomez? Who knows, but it might be!
“And if you think that I'm still holdin' on to somethin' / You should go and love yourself”, sings in a really beautiful and calm but shady way Justin in the chorus. Basically, you can replace all the ‘love yourselfs’ he says in the song with “f*ck yourselfs”, lol. I’m being real.
This ballad was co-written by Ed Sheeran, who you can hear doing back-up vocals in the chorus. The production in this song is minimal. There’s just basic electric guitar playing here and there.

As for “The Feeling”, the song is not as interesting as “Love Yourself” (you know what I mean), but it’s a solid tune nonetheless. I’m happy to hear Justin and Halsey’s vocals blend really well. The song ain’t a pure ballad, but an EDM mid-tempo ballad where JB and the “New Americana” star sing about something that many people who are in new relationships sometimes wonder: “Am I in love with you? Or am I in love with the feeling?”. That is the question!
