New Music: Jonas Myrin - 'Day of the Battle'

Sweden-born London-based singer-songwriter Jonas Myrin sees his hard-work of years finally pay off with the release of his debut single "Day of the Battle", an inspiring-uplifting record which hit iTunes in Germany, Austria and Switzerland only a few weeks ago. The single will precede the upcoming 2012 release - via EMI Music Germany - of his first studio work "Dreams Plans Everything".

It's always nice to find new talent, and 'refreshing' new songs. Jonas Myrin's "Day of the Battle" is a solid song, which most likely will do good damage on the German/Austrian/Swiss charts if promoted correctly. By the way, Jonas ain't a 'junior' in the game. He's been working his behind off - outside the spotlight - in the music industry to finally see his solo work come to reality. You'll find on his CV things like: Co-writer of songs for other artists, including Natasha Bedingfield or Steven Curtis Chapman, writer of the theme song for the hit Japanese TV series, 'Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood', or... (this is my favorite)...worked as an extra - as a mannequin - on the 2002 Sophie Ellis-Bextor video for "Get Over You". It is him!! To be part of one of the coolest music videos ever?...Not too shabby for Mr Myrin!

Back to "Day of the Battle", the track sounds, to me, as a mix of a subdued version of Scissor Sister's "Fire With Fire" and Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" (the *OH, oh, Oh!* bits). Pretty nice for a debut single. I like the melody and how the verses build up. Watch an acoustic rendition of the song below.

What do you think of the song?
