New Music: Imagine Dragons - "Roots" [Premiere]

imagine dragons roots cover

Imagine Dragons released this Thursday morning (Aug. 27) a brand new single, and it's a song that is not included on the band's latest album "Smoke + Mirrors". It's titled "Roots", and according to frontman Dan Reynolds it is "a track dedicated to the support we've received from our massive fanbase". Ok... so why wasn't this released for free then, and instead you're asking $1.29 for it on iTunes? lol.

"Roots" is going to be ID's official next single so expect the song to be playing on repeat on radio in the coming days, and the bad to be performing it on tens of television shows soon. Sucks "Smoke + Mirrors" died so soon. In my opinion, there were still songs worthy of being singles in it.

Review: The new single hears Dan Reynolds singing about want to go back to his "Roots" - "All the noise of this / Has made me lose my belief" is the line that explains the reason for this desired "going back" - over a piano melody that simultaneously flanked by a curious 'fast kick' drums-based beat. The sound of "Roots" is totally different from what we've heard from Imagine Dragons in the past, so I find some irony in the song being called "Roots". Oh, and this is less than 3 minutes long!

Hit or Miss?
