New Music: Icona Pop - 'Get Lost'
Should Icona Pop try a new sound or just keep
on releasing more of ‘the same’? That’s the question the Swedish duo and their
record label should probably ask themselves ASAP.
After ruling every dancefloor in the world with
their monster hit ‘I Love It', Icona Pop's popularity has positively gone
downhill. No follow-up single from their debut international album could match
the same success (not even close!). That’s why the female duo just forgot about
promoting the album and went straight on tour and are STILL on tour ever since
late 2013.
However, it looks like they took some time off
of all the touring to hit the studio and record a brand new song for their
fans. ‘Get Lost’ has just surfaced online, and it’s brand new Icona Pop! And
yeah, it’s more of ‘the same’. The same style, the same beats, the same Icona
Pop chants, it's just nothing fresh. Icona Pop better do something QUICK if
they don't want to end up as just another 'one-hit wonder' act. Evidently, the
general public has grown tired of their 'same sound'. They need something new!
It’s REINVENTION or DEATH for them.
On ‘Get Lost’, we don’t know yet whether it is
just s one-off single for the summer, or if it's the lead single from an
upcoming Icona Pop album. We do know the song is high-energy, very 'youth
anthem', and just very Icona Pop. “Let’s get lost / Drive all night”, command
the Swedish duo in the hook of their new song.
