New Music: Future (feat. Nicki Minaj / French Montana) – ‘Rock Star’
A snippet of a new track titled ‘Rock Star’ between Future and Nicki Minaj leaked earlier this year and today we’ve finally get a listen to the full version. The previously unreleased record was premiered by XXL and features production by DJ Clue.
"Cuban linked up, cue the brinks truck/ If i was a n*gga, I would be gettin’ my d*ck sucked” raps Nicki Minaj over the up tempo beat. Fans of singer-songwriter George Michael may recognize the sample used in 'Rock Star' as the Sax Riff is taken from his classic 'Careless Whisper' track. That sample is the reason we never heard the track in the first place due to clearance issues.
There’s no word if ‘Rock Star’ is a leftover cut from Future’s sophomore album but the track does sound like something that would have been recorded for 'Future Hendrix', which was the title and direction of the album before he changed it to 'Honest'. Take a listen to the fresh track below.
