New Music: Cover Drive - 'Love Junkie' [Premiere]

Barbados four-piece Cover Drive - led by the exotic Amanda Reifer - are to release later in 2014 the follow-up to their 2012 debut album ‘Bajan Style’ which spawned hits such as ‘Twilight’ or ‘Sparks’. Late last year they released an EP titled ‘Liming in Limbo’, but looks like Cover Drive are ready now to comeback with a full-length album. The EP was released independently; will they have found a major label to back them up this time?

The lead single from Cover Drive’s upcoming album is ‘Love Junkie’ and today, June 3rd, they premiered the song via a lyric video posted on YouTube. The song is a pleasant, radio-friendly mid-tempo dancehall/reggae track. Cover Drive certainly know how create catchy songs! Amanda sounds sexy in both the verses, and chorus (those ‘I’m nothing but a...’ followed the powerful drum poundings give LIFE), and the rap bridge addition makes a perfect blend. Overall, we like ‘Love Junkie’, however it’s not Cover Drive’s best single. We would have loved something a bit more pop, and even catchier. But ‘Love Junkie’ is going to our summer playlists anyway!
