New Music: Common - "War"

common war cover art

Are we at war? So it says Common. "War" is a free track the rapper unleashed online last night (January 6) just after announcing he would drop a new album called "Nobody's Smiling" in 2014. "War" is produced by No I.D (he's also producing Common's entire new album) and it's a song in which Common expresses his views on the current state of violence in his hometown of Chicago. Actually, the high murder rate in his city has inspired the entirety of "Nobody's Smiling". For now, listen to "War" below.

It's not confirmed yet if "War" is actually included on "Nobody's Smiling" or if it's just a small taste of what's to come, but anyway, Common already speaks of the Chicago violence in it and the song is produced by No I.D too, so I don't think "War" will differ much in sound and lyric theme to ther rest of songs on "Nobody's Smiling".

"War" is a pretty raw, and a "wake up call" song. Common certainly gave his all during the recording of it. The message is real. Solid track!
