New Music: Charli XCX - "London Queen" [Studio Version]

charli xcx london queen cover

Charli XCX just unveiled online the full studio version of her song "London Queen". This is a song that will be appearing on the British singer's forthcoming second album "Sucker" and that she had performed on a few live shows earlier this year. So yeah, "London Queen" isn't "entirely new" to our ears but this is finally the studio version. Charli XCX premiered the fun track via PopJustice in the afternoon of October 6th.

Before we go into the review of "London Queen", can I please rant a bit about how foolish was for Charli XCX and her label to have delayed the release of "Sucker"? The album was supposed to come out next week but Atlantic decided last minute to push it back til December for the US release and January 2015 for Europe. How foolish! She should release the album while "Boom Clap" is still kind of hot on the charts and especially on radio. Releasing it now in December sounds like suicide to me.

"London Queen" - DL Review

This is cute, although it's very short. In the fun "rock meets synth-pop" song, Charli XCX sings about moving from London to Hollywood. Even though she's far away from home, she's not letting go of her British heritage and that's the whole point of the song. She feels like a "London Queen" in the USA, she says. Still proud of where she's from! Fast-pace, cool production, and overall a cute album track.
