New Music: Candice Glover - "Cried"
After pushing back her debut album ("Music Speaks") release date two times, from its original July 16th and October 18th dates, to next year's February 18th, winner of American Idol's Season 12 Candice Glover, at least, comes forward with the project's first official single. Listen now below to the power ballad "Cried".
As for the positive: A) Candice is one talented singer, she's got powerhouse vocals and these show clear and loud in "Cried". B) Candice's phrasing lets you appreciate and feel every lyric. As for the negative: A) The musical arrangement could've been better. I needed a little more "oomph". B) This doesn't scream "monster" or "Billboard Hot 100 Top 40" hit to me. She can target and win on Urban AC radio with "Cried", though. Oh, one last positive: If she delivers impressive, jaw-dropping live performances of "Cried" on television (a la J.Hud), then maybe we'll be seeing "Cried" strongly climbing on iTunes.
"Cried" will be released, legally, on Amazon on November 25th, and according to Candice's Twitter, the ballad will be out on iTunes a day later.
