New Music: Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, Selena Gomez & More - “Hands” [Charity Single For Orlando Victims]

hands charity single

It’s been a long time we don’t get one of these “Various Artists” songs.

Sorry” co-writer Justin Tranter has put together this charity single called “Hands” which features a very long list of A-list artists. The organic ballad, which will undoubtedly make more Americans reflect about the gun control debate in the country, is here to raise money for victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre. To be precise, proceeds will be distributed by Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida and GLAAD.

On the recording of “Hands”, mastermind Justin Tranter said the following:

“Like the rest of the world I woke up to the news that morning and was horrified and sad and scared,” says Tranter. “We assigned everybody what we thought would be the best part for their voice,” Tranter says, “and we asked them all to sing an additional part, just in case. But everybody got it done in time so we ended up with extra vocals. In Los Angeles “Interscope let us use their studio,” he notes. “Mary J. Blige recorded in New Orleans. Britney Spears in Thousand Oaks, I think. Pink in Santa Barbara. MNEK recorded at home in London. Selena recorded in her studio bus. Dan Reynolds recorded in his home. Adam Lambert was in Luxembourg. Ty Herndon the country star was in Spain. Kacey Musgraves, Nashville. Everyone just got it done.”

The complete list of singers is as follows: Mary J Blige, Jason Derulo, Britney Spears, Tyler Glenn, Selena Gomez, Halsey, Ty Herndon, Imagine Dragons, Juanes, Adam Lambert, Mary Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, Kacey Musgraves, MNEK, Alex Newell, P!nk, Prince Royce, Nate Ruess, RuPaul, Troye Sivan, Jussie Smollett, Gwen Stefani, and Meghan Trainor.

Oh hands / Cus they can love / Or they can take / They can fight up / Until they save / They can break the world /They can change it too / Ooh hands”, they sing in the emotional chorus.

Not that I want to intentionally kill the heartbreaking mood, but wow at Britney sounding so good in this song. I seriously can’t wait to hear “Make Me”.
