It's the truth. Our beloved Nelly Furtado is back. 5 years after "The Spirit Indestructible", the Canadian singer is finally ready to give fans a brand new album - the sixth of her long career. "The Ride" is the name of it and it will be released in stores this Friday, March 31st, independently via Nelstar Music. That's right, Nelly may no longer be supported by a major label but there's no stopping her from doing what she loves most: write and record music for her fans. And this time she truly had total creativity control over her music. So this IS Nelly Furtado.
"The Ride" album is made of 12 tracks in total. However, if you manage to get a copy of the vinyl version, there will be three extra surprises waiting for you.
Do we Nelly's new album? Very much, actually. We knew the time of the "Fly Like A Birds" and the "Maneaters" was over, and we were not expecting to hear 2.0 versions of those on "The Ride" at all, but gladly the new music Nelly has recorded for us sounds just as timeless without having had to resort to any poppy-sell out tricks. Her new stuff sounds more mature, fresh, timeless, honest, organic, experimental, vintagey cool, and some of the tracks could even work out on major radios - if the DJs stopped thinking about their payolas and started caring about good music for once.
