Maroon 5 premiered this Thursday morning a brand new song from their upcoming sixth studio album “Red Pill Blues”, which will arrive in stores on November 3. The new song in question is the A$AP Rocky-assisted “Whiskey” and it premiered in a very surprising manner, for it exclusively premiered on SoundCloud, and that’s a surprise because almost no one uses SoundCloud anymore. Maybe Adam, and the rest of Maroon 5 are teaming up with Chance the Rapper to save the streaming platform from disappearance and this is their “contribution” to the cause (an exclusive premiere)? Whatever the case, we must be grateful because it is in the end brand new Maroon 5 music and we can stream “Whiskey” for free and having to pay no subscription.
“I never knew that love was blind / 'till I was hers / But she was never mine / Yeah, I was reckless / But I let it burn”, sings a sad Adam Levine in the first verse of the “Whiskey”, a ballad where he will narrate a love that could have been amazing but that sorrowfully went nowhere. Rapper A$AP Rocky will make appearance almost towards the end of the track, and if you thought a rap verse would be not to prudent for a ballad song like “Whiskey” is, we must tell you that we actually found A$AP Rocky’s input quite refreshing to the song.
