What a feat. The Weeknd is on fire.

Billboard announced today (Sept. 21) that the Canadian singer replaced himself at the top of the Hot 100 chart. His “Beauty Behind the Madness” official first single “Can’t Feel My Face” had been at #1 for three consecutive weeks in the US, but that changed today, when - after the weekly update of the chart - the song “The Hills” (included on the same album) reached #1 (was #2 last week) and dethroned the almighty “Can’t Feel My Face”. May I remind you that “The Hills” is only a BUZZ single (that's always been its official status), but its impact has been so big, and perhaps unexpected for The Weeknd’s label, that it has now surpassed the performance of an “official” single.

The Weeknd is the first artist to swap #1s on the Hot 100 since Taylor Swift did it last year and the first male since rapper T.I in 2008.

Personally, I have been a bigger fan of “The Hills” since Day 1. And although I understand “Can’t Feel My Face” being selected as first single from “Beauty Behind the Madness” for obvious reasons, - its radio-friendliness and amazing upbeat vibes are undeniable – I strongly believe “The Hills” is a better song. It may not be so “in your face” radio-friendly, but it’s a brilliant and sick song nonetheless. And its production is to die for too. I mean, every time that DROP comes, my life is slayed.

I feel so happy for “The Hills”, I feel happy for buzz singles in general, this is a historic day for The Weeknd, and this is just getting started. “Beauty Behind the Madness” has more brilliant singles to offer, and mark my words, this #1 swapping will not be the last we see from The Weeknd this era.

What's the better song?
