The Vamps released over the weekend their second studio album “Wake Up” and in order to assure the biggest sales possible during the album’s first week, the pop/rock band led by Bradley Simpson is currently busy on a promotional tour across TV networks and radios in the UK. Their latest stop was this Monday midday, November 30th, at the BBC Radio 1 studios in London to do a live acoustic set for the Clara Amfo-hosted “Live Lounge” series. Throughout their ‘Live Lounge’, The Vamps performed an acoustic rendition of the anthemic "Wake Up", the title track from their newly-released album, as well as a cover of the Justin Bieber hit Sorry”, featured on the Canadian singer’s “Purpose” album. No doubt The Vamps chose to sing this JB song so to attract the biggest possible attention towards their new album given Justin Bieber anthem share the same target audience. Pretty clever move!

Truth is there’s nothing bad to say about The Vamps’ “Live Lounge” radio concert today. Brad sounded good, and the band’s personal take on “Sorry” was nice - although nothing groundbreaking. I was hoping they would make the song sound like we've never heard it before.

I’ve had the time to hear The Vamps’ new album “Wake Up” and I’m sorry to say it’s filled with ‘safe’ tracks and it hears no evolution from the band whatsoever. Sad because I do believe these guys have potential, but unfortunately their record label is doing nothing to really exploit it.
