Joe Jonas is returning to the music scene but he's not doing it as a soloist anymore (as that proved to be a failure in the past) but as part of a band where he is, of course, the frontman. The band's name is DNCE, and they're signed to Republic Records.
The debut single of DNCE is this song called "Cake by the Ocean" (I never imagined a title like this would be possible) that world premiered via NYC's Z100 last night (Sept. 14). Stream the full track thanks to a YouTube audio video at the bottom of this page.
Since their name is DNCE, I assumed their music would be all pure, clubby dance music but I was wrong. It's dance, yeah, but with combinations with other genres. "Cake by the Ocean" for instance - a song that hears Joe Jonas wooing a girl - is dance music mixed with funk. And as you all very well know, this particular combination is amazing. "Cake by the Ocean" is upbeat, uplifting, puts you immediately in a good mood, it's "let's hit the dancefloor"-ready, and of course, it's very CATCHY too. I'm very impressed! I was honestly expecting worse, but this is a BOP.
Not sure if Joe will ever reach the incredible success his brother Nick's reached but "Cake by the Ocean" is already the best thing he's ever released "on his own" so this is definitely a good start.
