Rapper Nas got on the phone with Zane Lowe on his BBC Radio 1 show on Wednesday (July 4) to talk of and world premiere his 'new' posthumous collaboration with Amy Winehouse titled "Cherry Wine" which will be featured on Nas' upcoming album "Life Is Good", in stores on July 17 via Def Jam! The song was recorded with Amy, along with others such as "Like Smoke" (debuted on 'Amy Winehouse: Lioness: Hidden Treasures'), during their recording sessions with Salaam Remi back in 2008. Speaking about the track "Cherry Wine", US rapper Nas said hearing it back was difficult for him..."It’s a bittersweet feeling to do something with her now that she’s not here. I’m happy...the sweet part is that we do have the music, fans have new music from her. The bitter part is that she’s no longer here to really give it to us and to really live her music and for us to see her smile and hear her voice".
"Cherry Wine" is an absolute gem! The Salaam Remi-produced oldschool beat is brilliant, Nas' verses are top-class, and I completely adore the laid back vibe of Amy's voice in the chorus. It actually gives me chills to hear her again singing. So gorgeous and sad at the same time. We miss you Amy!!
