LISTEN: Icona Pop Change The Chanting For Singing On “Brightside”: New Song
Swedish duo Icona Pop just released a new single called “Brightside” at digital retailers and it is not a cover of “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers, but an entirely original song that will appear on Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo’s forthcoming second international LP.
The new single is the official follow-up to “Someone Who Can Dance”, which they released in February this year.
And in contrast with “Someone Who Can Dance” and all of the songs Icona Pop have released in the years since their start in this industry, the girls opt with their new single “Brightside” to debut a new style, for their signature chanting and shouting have been left in the past. Now they’re softening their voices and properly SINGING! In the chorus of “Brightside” the electro-pop sound of the song reaches its peak and over a thumping beat the Icona Pop girls sing about helping a person who is feeling down to switch to a positive mindset and at least for moment feel 100% happy (“Get up, get up, tonight, I will be the one to show you the bright side”).
