Germany-born rapper J. Cole dropped by "The Late Show with David Letterman" on its December 10th episode to be the musical guest. However, he did not perform a song from his just-released third album “2014 Forest Hills Drive” but "Be Free”, an emotional rap track that he released last August as a tribute to Ferguson’s killed 18-year-old Michael Brown. Watch the captivating performance below:

I applaud J. Cole for using this major outlet, like CBS’ “Letterman” late show is, for the Michael Brown cause to the detriment of his own album promotion. I believe this is the very first time the rapper performs "Be Free” live anywhere. So this “Letterman” gig is extra special. The Michael Brown fight isn’t over yet…J. Cole won’t forget – as neither will we. Fans of “2014 Forest Hills Drive” worry not. There's plenty of time left during this first week of release for J. Cole to perform on TV shows songs from the actual LP.
