Hear A 20-Second Preview Of Iggy Azalea’s “TEAM” / Does The Single Sound 'Dated'?

In just 8 days from today, Australian raptress Iggy Azalea will release her new single titled “Team”.

Last night (March 9th), Azealia Banks’ number-one enemy used her Twitter account to post a 20-second snippet of her new song - which she herself confirmed to be out on iTunes at midnight (EST) on Thursday, March 17th, and which will get a pretty-nice radio deal - getting played at the top of every hour on all Top 40 iHeartRadio stations.

Team” hears I-G-G-Y rapping in the verses and singing in the chorus - YEAH! I said she sings the chorus (you didn’t read it wrong)! I’m not entirely sure if this has been the right move to make, but I am totally sure that this was Iggy’s imposition to her label (her label wanted the first single of her second studio album to be a collaboration, and Iggy didn’t want that - she wanted to show the world she could get a hit on her own). And by the way, for those of you haters, who don’t believe this is Iggy’s singing in the chorus, she has something to say to you in the form of a TWEET:

The song is giving me strong 2000s rap music vibes, in the sense it sounds a tad “dated”, but I’m not hating, not hating at all. In fact, I like this throwback feel “Team” has. Now, is it first single material? Here I’m on the fence. I don’t think “Team” is radio-friendly enough to be a hit - it sounds more as a “nice album track” instead. I do like the self-empowering message it has, though. That I can see myself singing to the mirror when I’m feeling down, ha. But “Team” a hit? I don’t get that from this snippet. I don’t think it’s up on the same level as Iggy’s previous singles.

Here’s hoping “Team” doesn’t perform THAT BAD. Else, her label is going to force her to go back “Fancy”/collaborations style. And on top of it all, a flopped first single may hinder her entire new era.

Sounds like a hit or a flop?
